Our Vision
"Hope Haven is community committed to the special creation of God that is the human being; encouraging the realization of dreams, desires, and aspirations, valuing gifts, talents, and contributions, sharing accountability for individual and community growth."
Based in Rock Valley, Iowa, Hope Haven reaches out in the name of Jesus with love, hope, and opportunity.
Our ministry began in 1964 when we responded to the needs of 11 children with hearing impairments in our immediate area. At that time, there were no residential, educational, or work service opportunities for them. Today, we provide services that meet diverse needs serving over 1,000 children and adults from 51 of Iowa's 99 counties, and from 2 counties in Minnesota. We've also delivered wheelchairs to 105 countries around the world to those in desperate need of mobility and opportunity, logging over one million volunteers hours.
In 2009, over 500 adults celebrated living in our adult residential sites offering the opportunity to learn to live independently. Thanks to Hope Haven's Vocational and Employment programs over 220 adults celebrate holding a job in a work service, independent company, or day habilitation. Almost 600 people were served in our Children and Family Services, and over 260 in our Psychiatric Rehabilitation Programs. We celebrate the growth and development of the people we serve, as well as the blessing that our programs can continue to provide a much needed service to surroundings communities.
Ultimately, all of this is about people, God's people serving others and God's people being served. |
