Big Sioux Bluffs TRAIL RIDE

Hope Haven and Friends held a trail ride near Fairview, SD on June 5th. The ride began in downtown Fairview and ended at the Harmelink Ranch. The ride was about 3 hours and rode through the Big Sioux Bluffs, riding on land that was opened excursively for this Hope Haven event. The ride ended with a pork loin lunch, grilled by the Sioux County Pork Producers, and we were entertained by Kai & Bridget Allen, Bluegrass & Folk fiddlers.
The event was free! We wanted any horse enthusiast to join us for this ride. We challenged participants to get their communities involved by raising pledges. Raising pledges entered you for a chance to win great prizes. Grand Prize for the most pledges raised was a Western Oak & Glass Display Case (adult category) and a Playstation 3 (age 18 and under)!
Jeri Strong of Alcester, SD won the Cabinet and Kasi Koedam of Rock Valley, IA won the Playstation. Congratulations to Jeri and Kasi!
We had 141 people participate on wagons and horses, traveling from three different states! We raised about $7,000 that will benefit the local and international programs of Hope Haven. Thank you for your help and participation to make this event a success!
